Soap Paste Dilution Directions

There are couple of ways to dilute past into the water.

  1. Add paste to water and let sit for several hours. If your container has a lid, you can shake it to help with dilution.
  2. Place the paste and water in a heat safe container and place in a crockpot on low or warm. Leave for several hours. It will dissolve and mix much better.
  3. If you are in a big hurry, you can always use the microwave. Again, place in a heat proof container and heat in small increments of time. 30 to 35 seconds to start off with and see how your amount of mixture is coming together.

Once your mixture is diluted, you can decide if you want it thinner for using as dish soap or even in your foam soap dispenser.

Too thin and you want it thicker?  You can add ¼ teaspoon of table salt to your mixture, stir and let sit for at least 10 minutes.  Still not where you want it?  Add another ¼ teaspoon and again let sit.  Salt will thicken your mixture, a lot.  Trust me and give it time to set up before deciding if you need more salt.  Of course, if you get it too thin you can start adding back in more distilled water.

When your mixture is where you like it, you can either add or not add essential oil.  I’ve done it both ways.  I love the smell of citrus in my cleaning products!  Below is a few more scents you can try:

  • Clove
  • Eucalyptus
  • Lemongrass
  • Lavender
  • Peppermint
  • Tea Tree

Its fun to experiment but please also keep in mind that essential oils can also change the consistency of your mixture.  Please be mindful when adding.  Start slow, keep a few notes on the container you’re using so you can make changes, if needed, the next time.

Cathy and Kim
